Myers Traded for Roberts
Cincinnati traded reliever Randy Myers to San Diego on Sunday night for infielder-outfielder Bip Roberts in a deal thought to be close for two weeks.
The Reds see Roberts as a leadoff hitter and part of a rebuilt offense now that Eric Davis is gone. Roberts, who will play second and left, hit .281 last season with three homers and 32 RBIs.
In 1990, Roberts batted .309 with nine homers, 36 doubles, 44 RBIs and 46 stolen bases.
Cincinnati also will receive a player to be named.
Myers was 6-13 with a 3.55 earned-run average in 1991 and occasionally was used as a starter.
