OUTLOOK

There are a lot of new faces at El Toro, which hopes to improve on a 4-14 summer-league record. Only three lettermen are back from last season’s fourth-place team. Of the three returners, only Senik played much, averaging 5.2 points and 2.9 rebounds. Froome and Waldron were used sparingly. One key addition is Bailey, who didn’t play last season in order to concentrate on football and baseball. Bailey was the football team’s leading receiver this fall. Rikimaru was a point guard on the Chargers’ 19-3 sophomore team last season. The rest of the roster is dominated by former junior varsity and freshman players, and that lack of experience is probably the biggest problem for El Toro. Hilbert, Meier and Galasieski were standouts on the JV teams. Bone and Lewis were the top scorers and rebounders on the freshman team and give El Toro good size up front. But it’s a long jump from the freshman to the varsity level.
