2 Men Slain While Driving in Mid-City

Two men were shot to death in a pickup truck as they drove north on 40th Street in Mid-City on Tuesday evening, authorities said.

The shooting apparently occurred while the truck was in motion, officials said. California Highway Patrol officers found the pickup crashed into the center divider of 40th near where California 15 empties into that thoroughfare. An officer approached the truck about 6:25 p.m., thinking it had been disabled or involved in an accident, and found the driver and a passenger had both been shot several times, according to San Diego Police Officer Mark McCullough.

The men, who were not immediately identified, died at the scene.

The truck had several bullet holes in the driver’s door, McCullough said.

No one had reported the shooting to police, and there was no information about suspects, he said.
