COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Shooting Drought Sinks UC Irvine in Women’s Basketball
The UC Irvine women’s team went cold in the second half and that proved to be the Anteaters’ downfall in a 70-49 nonconference loss to San Diego State Tuesday at San Diego State.
The Anteaters, who trailed, 29-25, at the half, made eight of 34 (33.3%) shots in second half and were outscored, 41-24.
Forward Yvonne Catala led Irvine (3-4) with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Aztec forward Kieishsha Garnes led all scorers with 30 points as San Diego State improved to 5-1.
In NAIA District 3 women’s basketball:
Christ College Irvine 85, The Masters 53--Gitte Mejer had 19 points and 11 rebounds for CCI (7-2). The Masters fell to 0-8.
