BASEBALL
The Padres signed Mike York, a six-year minor-leaguer with little major league experience to a Las Vegas contract and will invite him to spring training.
The Padres also announced they did not offer a contract to first baseman Phil Stephenson, who now becomes a free agent. However, the club said it is interested in re-signing Stephenson to a triple-A contract.
York’s last major league experience came this past season with Cleveland where he compiled a 1-4 record and a 6.75 ERA in 14 games.
