COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : UC San Diego Edges CLU on 3-Point Shot, 67-65

Sophomore guard Rodney Lusain hit a three-point basket with 11 seconds left to give UC San Diego a 67-65 victory over visiting Cal Lutheran on Friday night in a nonconference basketball game.

Cal Lutheran (2-6) missed a shot with four seconds left.

Chris Moore led UCSD (5-3) with 15 points and seven rebounds. Eric Johnson added 13 points and Rick Batt and Lusain each had 11.

Jeff deLaveaga led Cal Lutheran with 21 points.

WOMEN

Valley 64, Eastern Utah 57--Wendy Bruse had 16 points and eight rebounds and the Monarchs effectively used a full-court press in the first round of the Fullerton tournament.

Valley (13-2) recorded 11 of its 15 steals in the second half to help erase a 25-24 halftime deficit.

Amy Horst added 10 points and 14 rebounds, Rosa Mendez scored 15 points and Falicia Stanley added seven points and seven assists for Valley.

Antelope Valley 61, Fullerton 56--Charley Johnson scored 23 points and teammate Paula Page added 21 points and 12 rebounds as the Marauders (10-4) opened the Fullerton tournament with a victory over the host team.
