Fourth-seeded Switzerland will face No. 5 Czechoslovakia today for the title in the Hopman Cup team tournament at Perth, Australia. The Swiss defeated Spain as Manuela Maleeva-Fragniere and Jakob Hlasek scored singles victories over the brother-sister combination of Arantxa Sanchez Vicario and Emilio Sanchez.
Maleeva-Fragniere defeated Sanchez Vicario, 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, in the opening women’s singles, then Hlasek beat Sanchez, 6-4, 6-3.
Czechoslovakia advanced earlier in the week by defeating Germany after Steffi Graf was forced to default because of a virus.
