In other men’s games:

Antelope Valley 86, Chaffey 83--Guard Tracy Acquaah scored seven of his 10 points in the final 2 1/2 minutes, including five of five free throws, as visiting Antelope Valley held off a late Chaffey rally to improve to 3-0 in Foothill Conference play.

D.J. Jackson had 28 points and nine rebounds, and Jason Grimes added 21 points and 12 rebounds for Antelope Valley (9-9 overall).

Acquaah finished with 10 points and six assists. Chris Walters added 12 points and Bucky Tucker 10 rebounds for Antelope Valley.

Valley 60, Santa Barbara 37--Host Valley opened a 25-point lead in the first half and cruised in the nonconference game. Forward Randy Brown scored a game-high 20 points for Valley (10-8). Russell Baldwin added 18 points.

Bakersfield 74, Oxnard 56--Kevin West of Bakersfield and James Parker of Oxnard each scored 26 points in the nonconference game at Bakersfield.

Bakersfield’s Ernie Johnson added 17 points. Shawn Talley scored 11 for Oxnard (9-9).

WOMEN

Valley 79, Santa Barbara 53--Lilian Stanford hit five of six shots from the field, including three three-point baskets, and finished with 13 points to lead the Monarchs (16-3, 2-0) in a Western State Conference game at home.

Valley led, 25-18, midway through the first half, went to a full-court press and pulled away for a 43-23 halftime lead. Rosa Mendez added 12 points.

Ventura 60, Canyons 49--A three-point basket by Teresa Turner with less than two minutes to play gave visiting Ventura a six-point lead in a WSC game.

Ventura made six free throws in the final 90 seconds.

Ventura’s Vanessa Hackett scored a game-high 23 points. Guard Shannon Solway scored 15 points to lead Canyons (8-11, 2-1).

The Master’s 51, Whittier 49 (OT)--Tricia Plummer’s two free throws in overtime gave Master’s (1-9) its first victory in a nonleague game at Whittier.

Plummer finished with 17 points, Krissy Trower added 11 and Jacki Harris had 10.

Antelope Valley 65, Chaffey 55--Charley Johnson and Krichele Gill each scored 17 points to lead visiting Antelope Valley to victory in a Foothill League opener.

Center Paula Page, held out of the starting lineup for disciplinary reasons, had 13 points and 10 rebounds in a reserve role and Christi Huff added 12 points for Antelope Valley (12-6, 1-0).
