Man Dies After Car Hits Deputy’s Vehicle
A Newhall man died of massive head injuries after he turned his car directly into the path of an oncoming deputy’s car, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Friday.
Danny George Johnson, 22, was taken to Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, where he died a few hours after the 6 p.m. accident Thursday, Lt. Daniel Reidder said. In the other car, Deputy Amos Cisneros was bruised and experienced back pain but did not require hospital treatment, Reidder said.
The accident occurred when Johnson, who was driving east in the 2100 block of Soledad Canyon Road, turned left into the parking lot of a gym. His view was blocked by a van leaving the parking lot and he turned into the path of Cisneros, who was driving west, Reidder said.
