Aztecs’ Clark Back at Practice

A San Diego State basketball team desperate for some good news got a little Monday when Tony Clark returned to practice.

Clark, who underwent surgery for a herniated disk in August, had been out since last Tuesday with a sore back and missed SDSU’s games against Wyoming and Southern Utah. He is expected to play Thursday at New Mexico.

“His shooting touch is a little off,” SDSU Coach Jim Brandenburg said. “But right now he’s very anxious to start playing again.”

Clark, who is averaging 12 points and five rebounds in five games, said he is feeling much better than he was last week.

“It’s not even close,” he said.

As was the case earlier in the season, Clark said he has been told by doctors to push himself as much as he feels he can and then, if there is more back pain, to relax.
