Faith Baptist High wingback Alex (Loafie) Estrada has been selected the state player of the year in eight-man football by Cal-Hi Sports magazine.

Estrada, a three-year letterman and one of Cal-Hi’s preseason all-state selections as a point guard on the basketball team, led the Contenders to the Southern Section Eight-Man Large Division football championship last fall.

Teammates joining Estrada on the all-state team are junior running back James DeCarriere and senior linemen Shane Montoya and Daryl Dickey. Faith Baptist’s Greg Weiss is the coach of the year.
