SUPER DUPER: Going to the Super Bowl...

SUPER DUPER: Going to the Super Bowl next Sunday in Minneapolis? Want to go see a concert while you’re there? You probably can still get tickets for Ol’ Blue Eyes, but you may be out of luck if you want to see New Blue Eyes.

As of midweek, a concert by Frank Sinatra at the 15,000-seat Met Center was a couple of thousand tickets short of a sellout. But a four-night stand beginning Tuesday at the State Theatre by Harry Connick Jr. sold out its total of 8,800 seats just three hours after they went on sale.

But don’t fret. There are plenty of other concert choices in the Twin Cities. Normally a concert wasteland in frigid January, the area is bustling with music next week, as the locals get into the Super Bowl mood and the game brings in plenty of out-of-towners.

Because of the flood of tourists and technicians, Lyle Lovett, who’s playing the day after the game, couldn’t get a hotel room in the Twin Cities on game night and will probably have to stay in Milwaukee, some six hours away.
