Former football standout Robert Smith, competing in his first track meet for Ohio State, ran a leg on a victorious relay and finished third in the 200-meter dash at an indoor quadrangular meet in Columbus.
Smith set the freshman rushing record at Ohio State during the 1990 season, but quit the football team in August, citing a lack of concern for players’ academics and health.
