PACIFIC 10 CONFERENCE : No. 7 Arizona Starts Slowly, Wins, 78-65

Khalid Reeves scored 12 of his 21 points during the second half as seventh-ranked Arizona came back to beat Washington State, 78-65, in a Pacific 10 Conference game Saturday night.

Arizona (11-3 overall, 2-2 in the Pac-10) trailed during most of the first half, but took control during the second half.

Center Ed Stokes put the Wildcats ahead for good when he made two free throws with 15:48 remaining in the game.

Damon Stoudamire’s three-pointer brought the Wildcats to within 37-36 at halftime after the Cougars led throughout the first half.

Washington State (12-4, 0-3) opened an 11-4 lead on three-pointers by Bennie Seltzer and Terrence Lewis, who scored 13 of his 20 points during the first half.

Chris Mills scored 18 points for the Wildcats and Sean Rooks came off the bench to add 12.

Washington State outrebounded the taller Arizona team, 38-29. The Cougars’ Ken Critton pulled down 10, as did Mills.
