From Staff and Wire Reports

Former middleweight boxing champion Michael Nunn, charged with punching and kicking his former fiancee, failed to appear in court Friday, and his bail was increased from $15,000 to $50,000.

Nunn was given until Jan. 31 to post the new bail and appear in Calabasas Municipal Court or a warrant will be issued for his arrest, according to Commissioner Robert McIntosh.

Additional charges were filed Friday against Nunn by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s office for an alleged second attack on Loretha Boyce on Dec. 14 in Los Angeles.

The original charges of assault and spousal abuse, both misdemeanors, stem from Nunn’s alleged attack on Boyce, 26, at his Agoura Hills home last August.

Nunn will be tried separately in the two cases, according to Deputy Dist. Atty. Loni Peterson.

Nunn’s lawyer, Donald Randolph, said the fighter was staying with friends in his hometown of Davenport, Iowa, and has been unable to get to Los Angeles.
