NATIONAL ROUNDUP : My Luck Runs North Scores $81 Upset in Hutcheson Stakes
My Luck Runs North scored an $81 upset Saturday when he came from last to win the $91,680 Hutcheson Stakes for 3-year-olds at Gulfstream Park.
Ridden by Ricardo Lopez, My Luck Runs North finished three lengths in front of Sneaky Solicitor, who barely lasted for second by a nose over Frosted Spy.
Return to Quarters, the 3-2 favorite in the $91,680 race, fell out of contention after dueling for the lead to the quarter pole and finished next to last in a field of nine.
Silver Survivor raced from last in a field of eight to a 1 1/4-length victory over Conveyor in the Grade III $88,050 Assault Handicap at Aqueduct.
The winner covered 1 1/8 miles on a fast track in 1:50 4/5 to earn $52,830. He paid $8.
Risen Colony posted her fourth consecutive victory in the $50,000 Maryland Racing Writers Handicap at Laurel Race Course. The winner covered 1 1/16 miles in 1:45 1/5 for a 3 1/2-length victory over Wait For the Lady and paid $3.80.
