Filemon Lopez of Mexico took the lead for good in the ninth mile and finished in 2 hours 13 minutes 12 seconds to win the men’s division of the Houston Marathon.
Michael Heilmann of Germany dueled with Lopez most of the race and finished second in 2:14:03. Gumercindo Olmedo of Mexico was third at 2:15:18
Kim Webb of Toronto won the women’s division in 2:50:17. Sandy Lovejoy of Winchester, Mass., was second in 2:54:22.
