Matadors Overrun Early, Lose to Wisconsin Milwaukee, 90-71
Cal State Northridge never recovered from a 22-3 run by Wisconsin-Milwaukee Monday night at the Mecca.
The Matadors missed 17 of 18 shots and turned the ball over seven times during the run in a game they lost, 90-71. They shot only 26% in the first half and committed 12 turnovers.
Northridge (6-14) ended an eight-day trip with a 2-1 record.
Forward Keith Gibbs made five of seven shots in the second half and finished with a team-high 15 points for Northridge.
Gibbs also had eight assists, spelling starting point guard Andre Chevalier because backup point guard James Morris suffered chest pains while warming up.
Morris was treated for an inflammation of the sac around the heart and released from Sinai Samaritan Medical Center. He is considered probable for Saturday’s game.
Marc Mitchell led the Panthers (12-5) with 19 points and Joe Schultz scored 16 points, including four three-point baskets.
