Mt. Carmel 67, Rancho Buena Vista 48--A week ago, Mt. Carmel scored its biggest victory of the year, a 60-57 decision over top-ranked Poway. Then the Sundevils had two letdowns--but still won--57-35 over Torrey Pines and 41-27 over Orange Glen--before getting it together against RBV.

The Sundevils (12-3, 7-1) spent 90 minutes at practice on Wednesday talking about their season.

“I was racking my brain, ‘How could a team that was so unified a week earlier be falling apart?’ ” Johnson said. “My answer was that there were different types of jealousies and concentrating too much on the ‘I’ instead of the ‘We.’
