COLLEGE BASKETBALL PACIFIC 10 CONFERENCE : Arizona Shakes Up Oregon

Arizona made a school-record 15 three-point baskets, forced 27 turnovers and made 16 steals as the No. 9 Wildcats handed Oregon its worst loss in history, a 104-53 Pacific 10 Conference defeat Thursday night at Tucson.

“Everybody was smoking from three-point range,” Arizona Coach Lute Olson said. “We did a nice job of moving the ball around the perimeter.”

Matt Othick made four of five three-point shots in the first half as Arizona (14-3 overall, 4-2 in the Pac-10) took a 56-28 lead.

Chris Mills added three three-point baskets, and Damon Stoudamire, Khalid Reeves and Deron Johnson each made one. Arizona made 10 of 14 three-point attempts in the first half.

Oregon (5-11, 1-6) has lost six in a row and nine of 10.

The Ducks’ biggest previous loss was 43 points to Oregon State in 1982.

Washington State 67, Stanford 59--The Cardinal led, 57-56, with 4:52 left before Bennie Seltzer made a three-point basket to put the Cougars ahead for good at Pullman, Wash.

Terrence Lewis scored 16 points and Rob Corkrum had 15 for the Cougars (15-4, 3-3), who won their third consecutive conference game.

Adam Keefe scored 18 points and had 12 rebounds for Stanford (11-4, 3-3).

Oregon State 61, Arizona State 47--Charles McKinney scored 21 points and Scott Haskin added 14 at Tempe, Ariz., as the Beavers beat the Sun Devils for the 18th time in 22 games.

Oregon State (11-9, 3-4) ended a five-game road losing streak.

Jamal Faulkner scored 15 points and had eight rebounds for Arizona State (11-7, 2-4).

California 76, Washington 58--Freshman Monty Buckley scored 16 points at Seattle as the Golden Bears won their first conference game.

California (7-9, 1-5) defeated the Huskies (9-7, 3-3) for the sixth consecutive time.
