Houston’s Drew Hill, who caught 90 passes for 1,109 yards last season and is the team’s all-time leading receiver, was left unprotected by the Oilers.

Other big names made available were Seattle quarterback Dave Krieg, linebacker Mike Singletary of Chicago, quarterback Jim McMahon of Philadelphia, running back Freeman McNeil of the New York Jets, running backs Ickey Woods and James Brooks of Cincinnati, Atlanta linebacker Aundray Bruce, and kicker Eddie Murray of Detroit.

Washington didn’t protect center Jeff Bostic, tackle Joe Jacoby and tight end Don Warren--allof whom started in the Super Bowl--along with running back Gerald Riggs and linebacker Matt Millen. The Redskins said they expected all but Riggs back next season.
