Blind Man Killed While Jaywalking
A blind man was struck and killed by a car Sunday as he jaywalked across one of San Diego’s busiest streets, police said.
Duane Vincent McCloud, 31, of San Diego, was darting across the 5900 block of University Avenue about 5:46 p.m. when he was hit by a westbound car, San Diego police said. Officers said the victim was wearing a stereo headphone set when he was hit.
McCloud was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:19 p.m, the county medical examiner’s office said.
The driver of the car, whose name was not released, was not cited, police said.
