Point Loma 55, Mira Mesa 51--Justin Miller’s 15 points and Ken Campbell’s 10 points sparked the Pointers (11-7, 3-2) at Mira Mesa (14-7, 1-4). Point Loma trailed at halftime, 36-30, but outscored Mira Mesa by 10 in the second half. Ryan Cunningham had 24 points for Mira Mesa.

Avocado League

El Camino 57, Oceanside 45--Chris Dade poured in a game-high 28 points, including all nine of El Camino’s first-quarter points. Mike Booker had 10 rebounds and Bryant Westbrook five blocks for the seventh-ranked Wildcats (15-6, 8-2). Carl Mathis scored 15 points for Oceanside (8-12, 4-6).

Carlsbad 79, Escondido 67--Losing, 40-12, early in the second quarter, Escondido cut the Lancer lead to five with 2:05 left, but the rally ended there. No. 5 Carlsbad (16-6, 10-0) had five players in double figures, including Toby Tollack (21), Chad Nelson (15) and Kewan Shariff (15). Damian Cephas had 22 points, and Mike Frank returned from a back injury to score 10 for the Cougars (7-12, 2-8).

San Pasqual 62, Rancho Bernardo 61--San Pasqual, which lost to the Broncos by 32 three weeks ago, made nine three-point shots en route to victory. Rancho Bernardo (14-7, 7-3) made two three-pointers within the final 1:30 to cut into a six-point Eagle lead, but David Durst’s fast-break layup iced it for San Pasqual (9-12, 6-4). The Eagles’ Ernie Silva had 21 points and the Broncos Kirk Hipple 19.

Ramona 71, San Marcos 61--Cody Cunningham had 27 points and 14 rebounds for Ramona (6-12, 2-8). He made 11 of 15 shots from the field and seven of eight free throws. Brian Baum had 14 points for San Marcos (4-14, 1-9).

City Central League

Madison 76, San Diego 61--Guard Shane Lantz scored 27 points--including 16 of 18 free throws in the fourth quarter--to help the Warhawks (12-10, 4-1) beat San Diego (9-8, 2-3). Guard Matt Baker added 21 points for Madison. San Diego got 18 points, eight rebounds and five assists from forward Marcos Soto.

City Harbor League

Christian 62, Coronado 52--Sophomore guard J.P. Culburtson led Christian with 18 points and nine rebounds. Pat Keough’s 14 points and Jason Wenning’s nine assists helped ignite Christian (17-4, 4-1). Jason Switzer had 16 points for Coronado (4-18, 1-4).

City Western League

Kearny 66, Mission Bay 35--The No. 3 Komets (22-1, 5-0) jumped out to a 30-10 halftime lead, then Demetrius Brown took over, scoring 10 of his game-high 19 points in the third quarter. The Buccaneers are 6-15, 1-4.

University City 65, USDHS 45--Senior point guard Barry Waits of University City led all scorers with 28 points. University City surged past USDHS in the second half after leading by only four at halftime. Trevor Brown had 14 points for University City (12-7, 3-2) and Josh Merrill 17 points for the Dons (3-15, 1-4).

Grossmont 3-A League

Helix 66, Monte Vista 53--With the upset at home, Helix snapped Monte Vista’s nine-game winning streak. By doing so, the league champion will not be undefeated for the first time in four years. No.2 Monte Vista fell to 19-2, 4-1. Helix is 14-6, 3-2.

Granite Hills 49, Mt. Miguel 40--Mark Kluge scored 12 and Bill Wade added 10 for Granite Hills (11-8, 3-2), which outscored Mt. Miguel by 15 in the second half. Marcos Gallardo had 15 to lead Mt. Miguel (11-11, 2-3).

Grossmont 2-A League

Valhalla 66, El Capitan 43--Valhalla got 19 points from Wayne Sippial and 13 from Darrick Freeman as the Norsemen (18-6, 5-0) won their 27th consecutive league game. Dylan Smith scored 10 points for El Capitan (9-13, 2-3).

Santana 77, West Hills 74--Santana (5-13, 1-4) won its second in a row for the second time this season. West Hills fell to 8-11, 3-2.

Metro Conference

Southwest 61, Sweetwater 53--Leo Vargas had 18 points and 12 rebounds and Tony Diaz 13 points and seven rebounds as the Raiders (10-10, 6-4) handed Sweetwater (9-13, 7-3) its second setback this week. Guillermo Sanchez scored 26 points for the Red Devils.

Castle Park 80, Mar Vista 73--Senior guard Bobby Stanton hit four three-point shots and finished with 33 points for Castle Park (9-10, 5-5). Teammate Moses Mareno chipped in with 17 points. Mark King scored 22 points for Mar Vista (9-9, 4-5).

Palomar League

Mt. Carmel 75, San Dieguito 64--Chris Goode’s 17 points paced No. 8 Mt. Carmel (14-7, 7-3). David Demian scored 19 for the Mustangs (10-12, 3-7).

Vista 91, Rancho Buena Vista 76--No. 4 Vista (14-7, 8-2) busted loose after trailing by five at halftime. The Panthers outscored RBV, 30-13, in the third period, making five of their 13 three-point shots, to lead by 12. Guards Shane Jaeger (25 points) and Jason Barnes (17) did most of the damage. Abe Ajlouny had 16 for RBV (8-15, 1-9).

Fallbrook 56, Orange Glen 40--Chris Miller had game highs of 17 points and nine rebounds for the 10th-ranked Warriors (15-7, 5-5). John Burns had 10 points for Orange Glen (2-18, 0-10).

Coastal League

Francis Parker 76, Julian 64--Matt McNeill had 20 points and six rebounds for Francis Parker (2-5, 5-15). Teammate Scott Schneider had 13 points and 11 rebounds. Parker trailed, 38-37, at the half, but outscored Julian, 18-10, in the third quarter.

Nonleague

La Jolla 63, Patrick Henry 40--Kenneth Kavanagh had a triple-double--18 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assist--and E.J. Watson had 17 points to lead La Jolla (8-11) over the Patriots (4-12).

Crawford 58, Marian 37--Sophomore guard Rahmon Anderson and Altie Parker scored 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Crawford (3-15). Jason Martinez led Marian (2-16) with 13 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

City Eastern League

Mira Mesa 39, Point Loma 33-No. 5 Point Loma (17-3, 4-1) was upset for the second time this week. Melissa Wickman provided most of the damage with a game-high 11 points and 10 rebounds. The game was tied at the end of each of the first three quarters.

City Western League

Kearny 34, Mission Bay 29-Playing deliberately, No. 8 Kearny (16-4, 3-2) won despite having no players in double figure scoring. Shelli Krause had nine points and her sister Melissa eight. Antoinette Cocco scored 11 and Kristen Grebing 10 for Mission Bay (15-6, 3-2).
