Domino Effect: Monaghan Puts Tigers on the Market
Detroit Tiger owner Thomas Monaghan has put the team up for sale, an aide said. However, the aide would not confirm reports of an imminent purchase by Edsel Ford II.
The Detroit News and Detroit Free Press reported that Monaghan, chairman of Domino’s Pizza Inc., is worried about cash-flow problems at Domino’s. The reports also said he is frustrated with the controversy over the site of a new Tiger stadium.
Baseball officials, who asked not to be identified, said Monaghan is talking with Ford, 43, the great-grandson of Ford Motor Co. founder Henry Ford.
