The Region : Hospital Site Action Put Off
The site for a proposed $378-million county hospital in the San Gabriel Valley will be discussed by Los Angeles County Supervisors on March 3, instead of this Tuesday.
The lawmakers asked for the extra time to gather information from two public hearings held last week.
The county needs 30 acres on which to build the 350-bed East Valley Medical Center.
Supervisors will choose between two sites: a manufacturing area in South El Monte and a heavy equipment dealership next to the San Gabriel River Freeway (605) in the City of Industry.
Officials, residents and business owners from both cities and surrounding communities are opposed to having the hospital in their areas.
