A small earthquake jostled East County residents awake Tuesday, but there were nor reports of damage or injuries.

The 5:57 a.m. temblor measured 3.4 on the Richter scale and was centered in the Jamul Mountains east of the Otay Lakes, according to the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena.

“We’ve gotten some calls but we don’t have any information,” said dispatcher Ben Hernandez of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, adding, “There was no damage, apparently, because we have not had any reports of it.”

He said the county Office of Disaster Preparedness had reported receiving some calls from people reporting the quake, which felt like a single jolt.
