PREP BASKETBALL PLAYOFF ROUNDUP : Tarver, Battle Join Forces to Spark Cajon

Mack Tarver, a 6-foot-4 junior, scored 22 points and Shaun Battle added 20 to lead San Bernardino Cajon to an 86-52 win over Riverside Poly in a Southern Section Division I-A basketball playoff game at Cajon on Friday.
Tarver, a cousin of UCLA sophomore Shon Tarver, helped Cajon to a 46-23 halftime lead. Battle, who will attend UC Irvine in the fall, then took over in the second half with 17 points. Cajon improved to 23-3.
In other first-round playoff action:
Banning 97, Chaminade 65--Despite 21 points from Richard Fei and 20 from Travis Hall, Chaminade (6-21) fell in a Division IV-AA game at Banning.
Monrovia 93, Littlerock 79--James Cain scored 39 points and Mitch Casey added 21 to lead Littlerock (16-6) in a Division III-A loss at Monrovia.
Compton Dominguez 53, Inglewood 50--Larry McGlothin, a 6-7 guard, led the Dons with 22 points and eight rebounds in a Division I-A game at Dominguez.
Buena Park 60, Charter Oak 48--Angel Barrios scored 20 points, 10 in each half, and had 12 rebounds for host Buena Park (20-5) in a Division II-AA game.
Fullerton 50, Chino Ayala 41--Senior center Jim Falletta scored 14 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to lead Troy to a Division II-A playoff victory at Ayala.
Trabuco Hills 75, La Habra 57--The top-seeded Mustangs raced to a 16-point first-quarter advantage and never looked back in a Division II-A game at Trabuco Hills.
Center Gavin Vanderputten led Trabuco Hills with 20 points.
