An Oxnard man scheduled for trial next week on three rape charges has been indicted by the Ventura County grand jury in two other cases, a deputy district attorney said Friday.

Jose German Martin, 21, has been accused of raping or attempting to rape five women in the Oxnard area during a two-month period last year, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Lela Henke-Dobroth.

Martin, who is being held at the Ventura County Jail in lieu of $120,000 bail, allegedly stalked his victims and threatened them with a knife during the incidents, Henke-Dobroth said.

Martin was arrested last year after one of his alleged victims recognized his car and phoned police, Henke-Dobroth said. Each of the other victims identified him in a police lineup, she said.

Henke-Dobroth said that during Martin’s arraignment, she will request that all five cases be consolidated.

A trial is scheduled to begin Wednesday on the first three cases.

Other charges pending against Martin include assault, assault with intent to commit rape, attempted kidnaping, robbery and the special circumstance that a weapon was used during the crimes.
