The West San Gabriel Valley League of United Latin American Citizens has named three winners of its annual community service awards.

They are Yolanda Gonzales, retired bilingual teacher at San Gabriel High School; Mary Lou Perez, home/school coordinator at Mark Keppel High School, and Henry Guerrero of Monterey Park, who has been a community advocate for 40 years.

* Judge Rudolph A. Diaz of Rio Hondo Municipal Court has been named chairman of the Presiding Judges Assn. of Los Angeles County.

* Judge Jack Hunt of Pomona Municipal Court is vice chairman. The organization includes heads of the county’s 24 municipal courts.

* Walt Hughes has been named director of the California Conservation Corps’ Pomona Service District at Lanterman Developmental Center, 3530 W. Pomona Blvd.

The California Conservation Corps is a state agency that hires young men and women for a year of outdoor work. It has 16 service districts statewide.

* James A. Goodrich has been named the executive director of the Main San Gabriel Basin Water Quality Authority, which was set up to develop and finance projects to solve underground contamination problems in the region. Goodrich, previously director of basin management with the Orange County Water District, replaces Karl Johnson, who retired March 1.
