Jeff Lukas Is Unhurt After Shots Hit Car

Share

Jeff Lukas, the No. 1 assistant for his father Wayne’s coast-to-coast racing stable, had a narrow escape in East Los Angeles on Saturday night when five bullets, apparently fired at random, struck the car he was driving.

Lukas was not injured. The bullets struck his car as it traveled on the City Terrace off-ramp of the San Bernardino Freeway.

At Santa Anita Sunday, Lukas told track investigators that two of the bullets went through his car. One slug has been recovered, but a spokeswoman for the California Highway Patrol said Sunday that there were no witnesses and no suspects. The shootings took place at 9:35 p.m.
