COLLEGE ROUNDUP : UNLV Again Beats UC Irvine in Baseball, 5-1
Tory Miran had a one-hitter through seven innings before settling for a five-hitter in Nevada Las Vegas’ 5-1 victory over UC Irvine Friday night, the host Rebels’ second victory over the Anteaters in as many nights.
UC Irvine (17-20, 5-9 in the Big West Conference) scored its only run in the third, on Chris Facione’s sacrifice fly.
Miran (7-3), who batted third, went three for three, scored once and drove in a run for Nevada Las Vegas (22-17, 7-7). Nick Kuster doubled twice and drove in two runs.
In nonconference baseball:
Hawaii Hilo 3-0, Southern California College 2-3--Matt Imus pitched a three-hitter in the seven-inning second game for the visiting Vanguards (19-19-1).
Steve Dolias was two for three and scored once and Sean Maharg had a triple and scored.
SCC took a 2-0 lead in the first game as Frank Howell’s triple drove in Justin Pysar and Ryan Seidel singled in Howell. But the Vulcans scored twice in the sixth and once in the eighth in what had been scheduled as a seven-inning game.
