THOUSAND OAKS : 3 Students Arrested on Burglary Charges
Three Thousand Oaks High School students were arrested on campus Wednesday for suspicion of committing burglaries when school officials discovered that a student had brought a stolen gun to school, authorities said.
Deputies linked the gun to a pair of residential burglaries reported Tuesday afternoon near the high school, said Sheriff’s Lt. David Tennessen.
Residents of homes on Van Dyke Street and Ruskin Avenue told deputies that they arrived home to discover their homes had been burglarized, he said. They reported a videocassette recorder and a gun stolen in the burglary.
Deputies searched the area using a helicopter and a police dog, but did not locate the suspects at that time, Tennessen said. On Wednesday, Thousand Oaks High School officials detained a student in possession of what they believed was a pellet gun and notified authorities, he said.
After questioning the student, the deputies then arrested two other students in connection with the burglaries.
