BASEBALL DAILY REPORT : AROUND THE MAJOR LEAGUES : Trammell to Be Out for Eight Weeks

Alan Trammell had three pins inserted in the broken bone of his right ankle during an operation in Detroit. The Detroit shortstop, who broke the ankle Friday night during a game at Kansas City, is expected to be sidelined the next eight weeks.
David J. Collon, the Tigers’ orthopedic surgeon, said Trammell, who won’t have to wear a cast, will be encouraged to stay in shape by doing exercises to strengthen his upper body.
