Briefly Told: Comedian Dennis Miller was set Wednesday to host the first MTV Movie Awards show scheduled for June 10. John Singleton, director of “Boyz N the Hood,” has been selected by a panel of 100 directors to receive the best new filmmaker award. . . . The prime-time Emmy Awards, scheduled for Aug. 30, will be seen this year for the first time throughout the Commonwealth of Independent States (formerly the Soviet Union) on Sept. 13.
