COUNTYWIDE : Police Groups Endorse Wright

Share

Assemblywoman Cathie Wright has been endorsed by several statewide law enforcement organizations in her bid for the 19th state Senate District seat.

Among the groups supporting Wright (R-Simi Valley) are the California Assn. of Highway Patrolmen, the Marshal’s Assn. of California, the California Correctional Peace Officers Assn., the California Organization of Police and Sheriffs and the Los Angeles Unified School District Police Officers Assn.

“It shows strong support for a law and order legislator who has fought hard to protect neighborhoods and families of victims of violent crimes,” said John Theiss, Wright’s campaign manager.

Theiss said the endorsements also demonstrate that Wright’s chief opponent in the race, former Assemblywoman Marian W. La Follette, does not have the solid base of law enforcement support that she claims.

Throughout her campaign, La Follette has trumpeted her endorsements by the Ventura County Deputy Sheriff’s Assn., Ventura County Dist. Atty. Michael D. Bradbury, the California State Police Assn., the Los Angeles Professional Peace Officers Assn., and the Los Angeles Police Protective League.

Wright and La Follette are competing with Fillmore City Councilman Roger Campbell in the June 2 Republican primary for the 19th Senate District, which stretches from Oxnard to the San Fernando Valley.
