Los Angeles police were searching Sunday for the driver of a car that hit and killed a man jaywalking in North Hollywood.
Daniel Salazar, 24, of North Hollywood was crossing Coldwater Canyon Avenue between Vanowen and Kittridge streets about 10:30 p.m. Saturday when he was knocked into southbound traffic by a car driven by Lucy Rice, 70, of Northridge, Officer John Karr said.
Lying in the southbound lanes, Salazar was run over by another car, which sped away, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene, Karr said.
Karr said the driver of the vehicle that drove off was being sought on suspicion of felony hit and run. Rice was not cited in the accident.
