A little food and a few memorable movies from days past provide some relief from the summertime rerun blues.

“A Taste of Norway With Julia Child,” airing today at 12:30 p.m. on KCET Channel 28, chronicles the 80-year-old chef’s recent adventures in the country in which she lived with her husband back in the 1950s. The show features Child fly-fishing for salmon in a Nordic stream and then tasting reindeer meat, a Scandinavian delicacy.

On Sunday, there’s a movie to suit just about everyone’s tastes. The dark and wonderful “The Empire Strikes Back,” the second in the “Star Wars” trilogy, screens at 9 p.m. (4)(36)(39). Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill are all on hand to do battle with Darth Vader.

Jane Fonda struts her Academy Award-winning stuff on Channel 13 at 8 p.m. in the 1971 thriller “Klute.” Cable’s American Movie Classics channel counters at 8:30 p.m. with the 1939 adventure “Gunga Din,” which was based loosely on the poem by Rudyard Kipling. It stars Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Joan Fontaine and was directed by George Stevens.

Those craving a super-hero but who loathe the idea of spending hours in line at the movie theater might also want to check out Christopher Reeve as “Superman” at 7 p.m. on USA.
