Tommy Morrison got his 29th knockout in 34 fights, stopping Joe Hipp in the ninth round of their heavyweight bout at Reno.
Morrison, at 222 pounds, fought from the second round on with a broken jaw and a broken right hand.
He flattened Hipp with a right uppercut and referee Rick Draklich halted the fight at 2:47 in the ninth round.
Morrison, nephew of the late actor John Wayne, was ahead on two of three score cards when he knocked out Hipp.
The victory brought Morrison’s record to 33-1. Hipp’s record dropped to 24-3.
