Access to Face-Value Tickets Is the Real Problem for Buyers

I attend at least one concert a month and generally purchase my tickets through Ticketmaster. I, for one, have no problem paying the service charge. Because I live in Palm Springs and attend concerts in L.A. and Orange County, it would be extremely difficult for me to go to the box office to buy tickets. Ticketmaster does make it convenient for me to purchase tickets at almost any time, and I appreciate that.

What gets me angry is the outrageous price of the ticket itself. I haven’t seen any letters or articles complaining about how our favorite performers feel free to charge such astronomical prices. What are their excuses? Spending $30 per person, not to mention parking fees and any souvenir or refreshments purchased in the lobby, is a luxury a lot of people are finding they can do without.

Instead of spending time and money trying to regulate Ticketmaster, private citizens and government should look into a way to place a ceiling on ticket prices.
