David Warady of Huntington Beach expanded his lead in the 12th day of the Runner’s World Trans America Footrace.

Warady started the day with about a nine-minute lead over Germany’s Helmut Schieke. But Warady won the 53.25-mile stage from St. George to Cedar City, both in Utah, in a time of 9 hours 42 minutes 3 seconds.

Warady has a cumulative time of 91:05.47 and leads Schieke by 2:44.50. The runners race from Cedar City to Beaver, Utah, today.

Debbie Graham of Fountain Valley and teammate Jonathan Stark of Medford, Ore., upset fourth-seeded Rick Leach of Laguna Beach and Zina Garrison of Houston, 6-4, 6-7 (6-8), 8-6, in a second-round mixed doubles match at Wimbledon.

Tiger Woods of Cypress shot an even-par 72 Wednesday to maintain a one-shot lead after the second round of the boys’ 15-18 division of the American Junior Golf Assn. ProGear San Antonio Shootout.

Woods, who had a four-under 68 in the first round, is at 140, four under par. John Lawrence of Houston is second at 141.

Jennifer Stroffe of Corona del Mar High and Misty May of Newport Harbor High were named first-team All-Americans after the recent U.S. Volleyball Assn. Junior Olympics in Albuquerque, N.M. Both played for the Santa Fe Springs-based ASICS Tiger club team, which won the girls’ 16-under championship Sunday.

Matt Stewart, a shortstop from Newport Harbor High, has signed a letter of intent with Washington, said his father, Steve.

Stewart was an All-Sea View League selection as a junior and a two-year captain. He hit .363 as a senior and .355 during his four-year varsity career, which covered two seasons at Santa Margarita and two at Newport Harbor.

Iain Doleman, who graduated from El Toro High last month and was the South Coast League’s Most Valuable Player during the 1991-92 season, has signed a letter of intent to play soccer at Cal State Northridge.

The date of the Ladycat Classic golf tournament has been changed from July 6 to July 20. The four-person scramble tournament will be held at Western Hills County Club.
