TASTE OF LONG BEACH: Food from 30 Long Beach restaurants will be featured at the 12th annual Festival of Chefs to benefit a residential program for abused and neglected boys; Long Beach Youth Home, 4151 Fountain St.; 4 to 7 p.m. today.

‘PETER PAN’: Presented by the Foothill Youth Summer Theater; La Canada High School Auditorium, 4463 Oak Grove Drive, La Canada Flintridge; 2 p.m. today ($8-$10).

OUTDOOR MUSIC: The Tyrone Anthony Jazz Band plays at Memorial Park, 840 N. Indian Hill Blvd., Claremont; 7:30 p.m. Monday(free).

BAND CONCERT: The Covina Concert Band will play in the Covina Park Band Shell, 404 N. 4th Ave.; 8 p.m. Thursday(free).

INVENTORS’ EXPO: Inventions, including a solar-powered vehicle and an electric race car, will be displayed at International Inventors and Entrepreneurs Expo ’92 at the Queen Mary in Long Beach; noon to 9 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Aug. 2.

PARA LA GENTE: The Gay and Lesbian Latino “Para la Gente” Coalition will hold a benefit Friday from 8 to 11 p.m. at Circus Disco, 6655 Santa Monica Blvd. in Hollywood. Proceeds will benefit the nonprofit agency CARECEN (the Central American Refugee Center) of Pico Union. ($7).
