Freeway Shootout Wounds Man, 25
A 25-year-old man was shot in the head early Sunday in a duel between two moving cars on Interstate 8 in Mission Valley, San Diego police reported.
Carlos Gonzalez of San Diego was a passenger in a car with three of his companions traveling at 1:20 a.m. on the freeway near the 40th Street exit, police said. Gonzalez and his friends were engaged in a gun battle with three people in another car when Gonzalez was shot, police said.
A bullet struck Gonzalez’s head, penetrating soft tissue but not the skull, police said.
Gonzalez was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was listed in good condition Sunday afternoon.
