FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS : Henley Also Injures His Hamstring

Both of the Rams’ starting cornerbacks have been sidelined with hamstring soreness. Todd Lyght missed his third day of practice Wednesday and Darryl Henley stayed out of both practices.

Defensive end Jim Skow missed practice with stomach problems. . . . Rookie defensive tackle Marc Boutte has been excused for a few days to be a pallbearer at his grandmother’s funeral in Louisiana.

Coach Chuck Knox made a point Wednesday to praise the training camp performances of receivers Aaron Cox and Vernon Turner, who have been impressive battling for the backup spots behind Henry Ellard and Flipper Anderson.

How busy are the Ram coaches during training camp? Most days, the coaches bypass the lunchroom completely, since Knox likes to hold meetings and analyze film of the morning practice at the lunch hour.

“Look at our bodies,” cracked linebacker coach Dick Selcer. “We don’t need a big meal.”

Said Knox: “We like to be organized, we like to be detailed, we like to have reasons for doing things.”
