LOS ANGELES : Attorney of Defendant in Denny Beating Is Fired

The mother of Damian Monroe (Football) Williams said Tuesday she has fired attorney Dennis Palmieri and hired Anaheim attorney Edi M.O. Faal, but said the change was unrelated to questions raised last week about Palmieri’s stability.

Georgiana Williams said the decision was based on her judgment that Faal “is the best.”

His predecessor, Palmieri, was fired from the Center for Constitutional Law and Justice last week for “highly questionable behavior and poor judgment regarding serious criminal matters.” In a resume, Palmieri claimed that his ideas were responsible for the dismantling of the Berlin Wall.

Fred Sebastian, deputy director of the center, confirmed on Monday that a change of attorney had been made and files have been turned over to Faal.

Williams and two others were ordered last week to stand trial on felony charges of attempted murder, aggravated mayhem, torture and robbery in attacks on Reginald O. Denny and other motorists at Florence and Normandie avenues, an early flash point of the Los Angeles riots.
