The Panthers stunned El Modena last season to earn a share of the league title. This year they could win it outright, provided Lauridsen develops at quarterback. “Most people think if you have a new quarterback you should run the ball,” Bland said. “We’re still going to throw it around some.” If Lauridsen comes though, the Panthers will be dangerous on offense. Worthem didn’t see much playing time until the third game, but still gained 985 yards and averaged five yards per carry. Tavernier is a brutal blocker and a solid tackle-to-tackle runner. The defense has experience and depth.
