OUTLOOK

We know it’s difficult, but if you watch Esperanza this season try to avoid watching the ball for a few plays. Concentrate instead on Kirschke, the Aztecs’ massive lineman who is ranked among the nation’s top 50 seniors by Street & Smith magazine and figures to be the most sought-after recruit from Orange County. He is simply overwhelming. Esperanza has been just as tough over the past two seasons. The Aztecs are 27-1 in that span with their lone loss being an 8-0 setback to Los Alamitos in the ’91 section championship game. Is there any wonder why this league shapes up as one of the toughest?
