Man Arrested, 6-Year-Old Returned Unharmed to Mother
A man who allegedly abducted the 6-year-old son of a friend and took her car was arrested Wednesday night and the boy was returned unharmed to his mother, authorities said.
Los Angeles Police Lt. Alan Kerstein said Royce Morgan Akers was abducted Tuesday afternoon as he sat in his mother’s car in front of their home in the 2000 block of West 41st Place.
Police arrested Brian King, who allegedly drove off with the boy after the youngster, his mother, Shelly Hall, and King made a brief stop at the house, Kerstein said.
King was arrested in the car near Central Avenue and Imperial Highway about 6:30 p.m. The boy was in the car with him, investigators said. Authorities said tips from residents helped them locate King.
