Rookie Eric Young had three hits, including his first major league home run, and drove in three runs to lead the Dodgers to a 11-4 victory Friday night over the San Francisco Giants.

The Dodgers, striving to avoid finishing in last place last for the first time since 1905, moved within four games of the fifth-place Giants with their biggest scoring output of the season.

Pedro Astacio (4-3) allowed three runs and six hits in 6 2/3 innings to win his second consecutive start over the Giants. The rookie has not allowed more than three earned runs in any of his eight starts this season.

Will Clark’s RBI double in the first gave the Giants the lead, but the Dodgers scored three runs in the third off Bud Black (10-10). Black is 1-7 over his last 10 starts and 0-4 with a 7.96 ERA in his last four.

Jose Offerman’s sacrifice fly tied the game and Brett Butler and Eric Karros hit RBI singles for a 3-1 lead. Young homered in the fourth to put the Dodgers up, 4-1. It was the 21st home run allowed this season by Black, a National League high.

The Giants made it 4-3 in the seventh. One run scored when Willie McGee grounded into a bases-loaded double play and Clark blooped a two-out RBI single off reliever John Candelaria. Roger McDowell pitched the last 2 1/3 innings for his 14th save, allowing Clark’s RBI double in the ninth.

That came after the Dodgers put the game away with three runs in the eighth on Tom Goodwin’s RBI double, a fielding error by McGee in right, and Young’s third hit, a run-scoring single. They added four more in the ninth on Karros’ two-run double, Goodwin’s RBI single and a bases-loaded walk to Offerman.
