NEW YORK SNOW: Former Rams standout Jack Snow from Seal Beach was in Miami Sunday as radio color commentator for the Rams--but his heart was in Kansas City. His son J.T., an outstanding three-sport athlete at Los Alamitos High, was making his major league debut for the New York Yankees. . . . “You bet I’m proud; he’s worked hard,” Snow says. “The only advice I gave him was to try all sports to see which he liked best, and to keep his grades up.” Trivia: The Snows are the only father and son to play in Yankee Stadium in separate sports.

Helene Elliott

Helene Elliott was with the Los Angeles Times’ Sports department from 1989 to 2024, first as a staff writer and then, starting in 2006, as a columnist.
