CHATSWORTH : Victims of Freeway Crash Are Identified

Share

Authorities on Friday released the names of two men who were killed the day before in a fiery cross-median crash on the Simi Valley Freeway in Chatsworth.

The coroner’s office identified the dead as Thomas L. McLemore, 58, of Santa Clarita, and Shay Almog, 26, of Las Vegas. An unidentified woman and her 4-year-old daughter sustained minor injuries in the crash.

The four-vehicle accident occurred when McLemore’s westbound car rear-ended a station wagon and then crossed a dirt median and collided with two other cars, including Almog’s, on the eastbound side of the freeway near the Tampa Avenue exit, authorities said.

The accident took place at the site of another cross-median crash that left three people dead and four injured Jan. 31.

After the crash in January, state transportation officials ordered a temporary barrier installed between eastbound and westbound traffic along a five-mile stretch of the Simi Valley Freeway from Balboa Boulevard to De Soto Avenue. The temporary barrier is expected to be in place by July.
